Network-Coordinated

Caregivers who feel like family, matched thoughtfully, not at random.

Ohana coordinates access to non-medical in-home caregivers through a network of screened partner agencies. We handle intake, assess your situation, and connect you with the right caregiver, staying involved to make sure the match works.

What Coordination Looks Like

Real caregivers. Real families. Real support.

Ohana coordinates access to non-medical caregivers through carefully screened partner agencies. We assess each family's specific situation, confirm caregiver availability, and stay involved to ensure the match is working, not just at intake, but throughout the care relationship.

Caregivers provide daily living support, companionship, household assistance, and more, all through licensed partner agencies operating within their scope of practice.

What caregivers provide

Non-medical caregivers coordinate through our partner agencies to provide hands-on daily living support, companionship, and household assistance. Every service listed here is non-clinical.

Daily Living Support

Assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility. All non-medical activities of daily living (ADL) support. Caregivers work within the patient's comfort and routine, following a care plan developed with the family.

Companionship & Engagement

Meaningful social interaction, conversation, light recreation, and accompaniment on outings. Isolation is a documented health risk for seniors; consistent, caring presence matters as much as any task performed.

Household & Errands

Light housekeeping, laundry, meal preparation, grocery shopping, and medication reminders (not administration). Caregivers help maintain a safe, clean, and organized home environment that supports independence.

An important distinction.

Non-medical caregivers do not provide clinical care. Understanding this boundary protects patients and ensures the right level of care is in place.

If your loved one needs skilled nursing, home health, wound care, or other clinical services, Ohana can coordinate those services separately through our clinical network. See Home Health or Wound Care for more information.

Caregivers coordinated through our network do not:

  • Administer medications or injections
  • Perform wound care or dressing changes
  • Provide skilled nursing or therapy services
  • Serve as a replacement for licensed home health, hospice, or medical care

How matching works

A good caregiver match isn't an accident. It's the result of careful intake, honest conversation, and staying involved after the introduction is made. Here's how Ohana approaches it.

Needs Assessment

We speak with the family and, where possible, the patient to understand daily routine, personality, mobility level, care needs, and any preferences around schedule or communication style. The goal is a real picture of the situation, not a checklist.

Partner Selection

We identify the appropriate partner agency based on geographic coverage, caregiver availability, language preference, and fit for the specific care situation. Not every agency is right for every case. We match thoughtfully.

Caregiver Introduction

The partner agency introduces the caregiver to the family. Ohana facilitates communication, helps set expectations on both sides, and confirms the initial schedule and scope of care before service begins.

Active Coordination

Ohana stays involved after placement, tracking caregiver consistency, fielding family concerns, and adjusting the match if the current arrangement isn't working. We remain your point of contact throughout.

What our partner agencies verify

Before an agency is included in Ohana's coordination network, we confirm they maintain appropriate caregiver screening standards. The following are verified at the agency level for all caregivers placed through our network.

  • Background check completed prior to placement
  • CPR and first aid certification current
  • Reference check from prior caregiving assignments
  • State-required caregiver training completed
  • Liability insurance maintained by the employing partner agency

Caregiver screening is performed by the employing partner agency, not by Ohana. Ohana verifies that partner agencies maintain appropriate screening policies before including them in our network, but does not independently conduct background checks or credentialing for individual caregivers.

Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

The questions families ask most when considering caregiver coordination through Ohana.

Some caregiving services may be coordinated through Ohana’s direct operations and through independently staffed partner organizations. The staffing arrangement may vary based on the type of support needed and the care setting. Ohana will clarify the caregiver’s employment relationship prior to placement.

Caregivers may assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, and companionship. Specific services depend on the caregiver’s classification and the care plan in place.

Non-medical home care aides and companions do not perform clinical procedures, administer injections, or perform skilled nursing tasks. If clinical care is needed alongside caregiving support, Ohana may coordinate access to appropriate network providers separately.

Ohana considers the patient’s care needs, language preferences, schedule, and location when coordinating caregiver placement. We do not guarantee a specific caregiver match — availability varies by region, schedule, and caregiver classification.

Minimum visit durations and weekly hour requirements may vary depending on the service type and provider. Contact our team to discuss your specific scheduling needs and confirm what’s available in your area.

Answers are provided for general informational purposes only. Services, eligibility, availability, provider participation, authorization requirements, and coverage may vary.
